This vintage Universal Genève Gilt Shadow Automatic from the 1970s is a true expression of era-defining elegance. Housed in a C-shape case—a bold and fluid design that became iconic in the decade—it features a brushed gold-plated finish paired with its original gold mesh bracelet for a sleek, integrated look on the wrist.

Interestingly, the design of this model closely mirrors Vacheron Constantin's pieces from the same period. That’s no coincidence—Universal Genève and Vacheron worked closely together in the 1960s and '70s, often sharing design language and movement technology. As a result, the Gilt Shadow carries much of the same visual sophistication found in watches many times its price.

Under the hood is the in-house Caliber 2-66, a 25-jewel automatic movement, celebrated for its slim profile and smooth performance. The dial is finished in a textured gold tone, signed "Gilt Shadow Automatic," and framed by minimalist markers and baton hands.
