This vintage Jaeger-LeCoultre is built around a genuinely significant movement: the Calibre 476/2, the very first automatic caliber the manufacture ever produced, introduced in 1946. It's a bumper automatic rather than a full-rotor - the rotor swings through a partial arc and rebounds off a spring rather than spinning freely, giving the watch a distinct mechanical character that full-rotor automatics later moved away from. The 33.5mm stainless steel case is fitted with the angular, sculpted "crab" lugs typical of late-1940s Jaeger-LeCoultre design, measuring 40.8mm lug to lug - a compact, profile that wears smaller and more refined.
