Vintage Buren Grand Prix, NOS, Two-tone silver dial, Manual Wind, Sub-Seconds from 1950's

This is a vintage Buren Grand Prix in new old stock condition - a classic mid-century Swiss dress watch, unworn and preserved, from one of the more quietly interesting names of the era. Buren, based in Büren an der Aare, is remembered by collectors as a micro-rotor pioneer and a "Dirty Dozen" military supplier.

The case is stainless steel, measuring 34.6mm across, 42.3mm lug-to-lug, and a slim 9mm thick, with a stepped, chamfered bezel that gives an otherwise restrained watch some edge. The silver dial is laid out in the symmetrical 1950s idiom: a black chapter ring framing applied faceted gold dart markers, small triangle markers at the quarters, gold hands, and a sub-seconds register at six with a snailed centre. For a watch of this age, the dial is exceptionally clean and crisp. It comes on its original leather strap.

Inside is the manual-wind Buren Grand Prix caliber, 15 jewels, with Incabloc shock protection. It has been freshly serviced, is running perfectly, and is ready to wear - a clean, well-built movement from a genuine Swiss manufacture.
