This GUB Glashütte wristwatch represents an important moment in German watchmaking history. The watch is powered by the Calibre 28.1, one of the final wristwatch movements developed by A. Lange & Söhne before the division of Germany, and later produced under the newly formed VEB Glashütter Uhrenbetriebe (GUB). This vintage A. Lange & Söhne piece is preserved in mint overall condition, with a beautifully clean dial and a case that shows only minimal signs of age.

This particular example stands out due to the movement signature “Lange VEB Glashütte.” This transitional marking was used only until around 1953, during the early nationalization period when the legacy of A. Lange & Söhne was still visible in Glashütte production. The watch remains exceptionally well preserved, with sharp case lines and an original dial in outstanding condition.

The movement also carries the Q1 quality designation, the highest quality classification in East German watchmaking. Combined with the relatively small production of the Calibre 28 / 28.1 family (approximately 22,000 movements produced between 1949 and 1957), this watch represents an important early chapter in post-war Glashütte watchmaking.
