Vintage Raketa Copernicus, Roman Numerals, Soviet watch from 1980's
This vintage Raketa Copernicus is one of the most iconic and imaginative designs to come out of the Soviet watch industry. Inspired by the heliocentric model of the solar system proposed by Copernicus, the watch features a unique dial layout with planetary-style hands — the hour hand represented by a golden “sun” disc and the minute hand by a smaller dark circle — rotating around the central axis. This model was produced at the Petrodvorets Watch Factory in the USSR and is a perfect example of space-age Soviet design.
Housed in a 33 mm stainless steel case (41 mm lug to lug), the Raketa Copernicus combines artistic flair with mechanical simplicity. The Roman numeral hour markers and clean dial design offer excellent legibility, while the bold concept behind its layout makes it a collector's favorite. Powered by a manual-wind movement, this piece is not just a timekeeper but a celebration of science and creativity.
