Vintage Jaeger-LeCoultre Chronograph, Steel Case, Ref. 22493, Cal. UG 285 from 1940's

This exceptional Jaeger chronograph from circa 1945 is a rare and historically significant piece. Housed in a stainless steel case, it features a well-proportioned 35mm diameter, crisp pump pushers, elegant teardrop lugs, and a beautifully aged original dial with tachymeter and telemeter scales. The watch is powered by the highly regarded Universal Genève Caliber 285, one of the finest chronograph movements of the era.

While the dial is signed simply “Jaeger”, this is entirely correct and period-appropriate. During the 1930s–1940s, Jaeger-LeCoultre operated in France under the Jaeger name only, due to legal and commercial structures unique to the French market. Full “Jaeger-LeCoultre” branding would not appear uniformly until decades later. Watches like this were produced specifically for France, making them increasingly scarce and highly collectible today.
